Christmas Metaphor poem

The Christmas lights in the night are stars twinkling in the night sky.
The reindeer on the slay are planes souring through the sky.
The snow falling is present landing under the tree.

Reading activity

Today I'm going be doing a reading activity for the book “how to speak zombie” By Steve Mockus and Illustrated by Travis Millard! Please enjoy!

This book tell you how to speak zombie is a goofy, funny language. Awesomely spitting up to different categories like words you might at the mall too what you would say at the beach. Personally the most exciting thing about this is book is that it's got voice recordings on the side so it might say hi means “ugghahfhuuu” and press it on the numbers on the side and it says what in zombie language is hi!

I think how to speak zombie is a cool little child book That is one the best and most diverse of
many other books I’ve read I rate this book 7/10 (for what is!) and 5+!

How rainbows are made (Myths and Legends)

Once have you wondered how the rainbow came to be! Once in a tribe they had every item and every clothing grey and dull colors and a little girl in the tribe did not like the fact her home was so BORING. So she set off on a journey to lighten up the tribe and set of to the “land of the gods” (It’s a place where some gods slumber.)

Eventually she found a cave with gleaming colors coming out so she ran in hoping to find what she wanted. And she found the god of beauty with mirror admiring her when the girl waked in the cave she angered 2 gods, the god of light and the god of earth. They were FURIOUS and they followed little foot step to the cave thinking that it was her doing and weren't happy. The earth god made the earth god around the beauty god up to her face causing her mirror on the floor.

Then after that every once and the light god shined light on mirror and rebound of her face projecting colors into the sky and that's how rainbows are made!

How lizards came to be!

Have you ever seen tiny lizards scampering rock to rock with little fork like tongues sticking out and wonder how did this come to be? Well this is how!

Before man there were dragons all shapes and sizes like walking mountains too ants. And like every creature they get hungry and they didn't care what they ate as long as there full and the only creature they saw her dragons like them and 1 dragon was starving and went rogue and started eating they dragon's tiny dragons wings because he couldn't catch them. But the bigger ones fought the massive giants fought and died out leaving only tiny wingless creatures scampering around. Gleaming in sunny waste land of a planet eventually humans populated the earth making it suitable for them to live again!

For today’s writing I used a sentence starter which has got random ideas!

Sharks belong in the middle of the ocean not in the middle of a Kelly Tarltons! Me and my family went to the Kelly Tarltons … but then I saw sharks use their TAILS to walk around starting up close on the window to the penguin enclosure!

Everyone ran out screaming “RUN,RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.” But our family thought its was a costume and we stood right next the sharks and my mum had a CONVERSATION with the shark. I was just ignoring hoping it was a dream but of course knowing my luck it wasn't… Then I heard a rumbling and it was the sharks! And startled my sister and cut her finger and blood was dripping and the shark held her finger up to light to see a good look at the nasty cut. GULP and a blood dripped into the shark throat and he went savage, wild.

We just ran and ran then my mum got her purse and WHAM it hit the shark in the face with the purse. And that gave us enough time to get out alive!

EVEN more Myths and ledgends

When most people boat to Kapiti Island, most people wonder how Kapiti came to be today, I will tell you.

Back before god knows when there were giants and in this particular story 2 called Owihag and Owfihag that's in giant language but in English its Mack and Josh. They would get angry because they had to go to school and depending on how angry they were is how much of New Zealand they would rip of then throw into the sea, which started to slowly pile up and eventually made Kapiti island and one day they stormed into the water to get a fish. They found all the land that they threw and they sore it saw there on island so they took trees and animals and put it on the island to make it more homely. One day people was catching fish in a net and sore the island so they went home and tolled everyone and then all of New Zealand new about it some people even decided to live on it and build houses. After a while two people decided to make a ferry and let people go on it for twenty dollars and they would take them to the brand new Kapiti Island. On that grand island and if you dig deep enough you would probably find whale sized giant bones, some shattered but there home still stands today! With even better features!

More Myths and Legends

Have you ever look at the sky in a rainy, stormy day and wonder “How is rain, well… RAIN” and this is why. Along time ago the Greek god, Boreas was controller of wind and winter and he meet Poseidon and was EXTREMELY jealous of how he was more well known by the Greek and that the great Boreas just practically pushed aside.

Eventually he had enough of the Greek's and what thought how Poseidon better and attacked Rome destroying whatever he wanted and threw a building so far it hit Poseidon in his deep sleep, he was furious and looked like steam was nearly coming out of his ears. They fought with mighty blows and HUGE waves were coming in on Rome and Boreas was so mad he fought for weeks and blow so much water in the air and made rain later on further in the ages.  Because what goes up must come down. Eventually someone was gonna win and Poseidon struck him down killing him and his remains evaporating making the clouds!

And that's how rain was made (if your wonder the gods in the story is true! In mythology of course)

Okay day 1, Our family went for a walk to the beach and when we strolled back I saw, heard a cat getting hit by a car, Don't worry it didn’t go under the wheel just skimmed it… My  Mum quickly picked up the cat with her jacket of the road and placed  her on the neighbours front yard and got the SPCA to came take her. I felt TERRIBLE for the cat because it had gotten lots of pressure behind its eye before so it lost its ability to see with 1 eye that's why it got hit in the first place. Day 6 we visited my grandad it was okay. Day 10 (I pretty sure anyway) My older sister Brenna had her baby named Ardena. Day 11 My mums Friends stays the night for the rest of the holidays. Day 12 see Ardena. That was most of my holidays!!

Thats what happened during the holidays, now I will rate each day out of ten!
Day 1-3  3/10          Day 4-7  5/10           Day 8-11  7/10             Day 12-14  6.5/10!!!!!!

Today I learnt

Today I learnt That Popcorn is a special kind of corn. Of all the types of corn, popcorn is the only variety that pops. Inside each kernel of popcorn is a tiny droplet of water surrounded by a hard shell called a hull. As the popcorn is heated, the water turns into steam, which builds pressure inside the kernel.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt It was here in Arabia that coffee seeds were first roasted and brewed, in a similar way to how it is now prepared. By the 16th century, it had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia, Turkey, and northern Africa. Coffee seeds were first exported from Ethiopia to Yemen.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt that is a lobster a insected? Lobsters, like insects, belong to the invertebrate phylum Arthropoda. Besides lobsters and insects, spiders and snails belong to this group as well. These animals are closely related because of two main characteristics that they share: they all have an exoskeleton (outer skeleton) and they all have joint appendages.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt that how long can a penguin? The penguins don't leave the nesting areas to feed, some species go through the entire courtship, nesting, and incubation period without food or water. For male king penguins, this period lasts for 55 days. For the male emperor penguin, the fast can last up to 120 days.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt that the typical lightning bolt moves at 224,000 mph -- or about 3,700 miles per second. However, the light you see from the lightning obviously travels at the speed of light, which is roughly 670 million mph, or 186,000 miles per second. ZAP!

Today I learnt

Today I learnt that are panda's bears? Scientists have used DNA to find out that the giant panda is more closely related to the other bears than to the raccoons. Giant pandas are in the family Ursidae with the seven other bear species. Raccoons are in the family Procyonidae, along with ring-tails and coatis.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt about Achilles heel its greek myth about In Greek mythology, when Achilles was a baby, it was foretold that he would die young. To prevent his death, his mother Thetis took Achilles to the River Styx, which was supposed to offer powers of invulnerability, and dipped his body into the water; however, as Thetis held Achilles by the heel, his heel was not washed over by the water of the magical river. Achilles grew up to be a man of war who survived many great battles. One day, a poisonous arrow shot at him was lodged in his heel, killing him shortly afterwards.
The death of Achilles was not mentioned in Homer's Iliad, but appeared in later Greek and Roman poetry and drama[1] concerning events after the Iliad, later in the Trojan War. In the myths surrounding the war, Achilles was said to have died from a heel wound which was the result of an arrow—possibly poisoned—shot by Paris.
Classical myths attribute Achilles's invulnerability to his mother Thetis having treated him with ambrosia and burned away his mortality in the hearth fire except on the heel, by which she held him. Peleus, his father, discovered the treatment and was alarmed to see Thetis holding the baby in the flames, which offended her and made her leave the treatment incomplete.[3] According to a myth arising later, his mother had dipped the infant Achilles in the river Styx, holding onto him by his heel, and he became invulnerable where the waters touched him—that is, everywhere except the areas of his heel that were covered by her thumb and forefinger.[4] Click the blue for links

Cats or None

Cats or no cats
People are saying they don't want ANY cats, some say we should keep cats household or not they loving creatures. tell me your opinion down bellow!

Some people wanna keep cats because they cuddle kids at night helping them go to sleep but they downside they could get dieseses at that range. They scratch people but the good side is that they can use their claws to balance population with birds, pests etc and scares them away keeping a safer environment for kids and you'd be surprised how many kids are attacked by possums and rats. They can destroy furniture and curtains

SO please say which side your on and sorry I had a better copy of writing but it didn't save.

Cats or no cats

People in NZ people are trying to get rid of household cats and stray. Personally I disagree and say to have cats.

People should keep cats but at a limit of about 5 personally and have more if they have a permit but that's me… not you. These are some reasons why we should keep cats one, that it keeps kids warm and makes them play of electronics. Two they do sadly kill some animals but it reduces the population so we don't have to hunt them. I know there are many more but that's all I’ll say for now.

Please keep cats not for my word but for theirs! MEOW

In class we had to do a reading review so I have chosen the book "The best tropical beach resort" it starts of with a boy named Andy about 12 years old and he decided to make a tropical beach resort in his house.

He starts getting 3 cubic meters of sand, he  has a babysitter while his parents are over seas his babysitter is ignoring him so he doesn't get told off or trying to stop him so he does. Then he adds palm trees and small plants that you would see in Hawaii.

He keeps on adding on stuff like hula dancers, pool and more tropical equipment. He makes his home holiday and owes 5 million too workers. I recommend ages 5-10!

In class we had to write a reading review about any book I picked Groovy Gran because it explains about a kid called Billy and his creative grandparent trying to jazz up his life. His family has Him,a older and younger sister and his mum (besides grandparents.)

Billy goes too school and gets bullied and he has to do a participate in a upcoming talent show. And after school he goes to a rest home were his mum works so he can earn his pocket money by helping. His gran had the motto "enjoy your day of fame and success" and liked horror scopes.

Its about his Gran helping him for his talent show by doing a musical act. Its set at the school for the talent show an you can read the rest for the self because its the best part and my favourite because that's what Billy has waited for and put so much effort into for the talent show.

It was a good book I suggest reading it for your self, its not long but its good. I recommend ages 6-12 to read this book.

Today I learnt

Today I learnt why  The lego is called lego. Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen (born 7 April 1891), a carpenter from Billund, Denmark, who began making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called "Lego", from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well".

Today i learnt

Today I learnt about Tyche was the goddess of fortune and prosperity of a city in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Aphrodite and either Zeus or Hermes, although some sources referred to her as an Oceanid, a daughter of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys. She was often depicted in statues wearing a mural crown, which is a crown having the shapes of city walls. She was linked to Nemesis, goddess of retribution, and Agathos Daimon (the good spirit). Tyche appeared on many coins of the Hellenistic period (after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC).
Tyche Is also called Fortuna. CLICK the blue words for links

Today I learnt Greek god edition #8

Today I learnt about Ares was the god of war, and son of Zeus and Hera. He represented the raw violence and untamed acts that occurred in wartime, in contrast to Athena, who was a symbol of tactical strategy and military planning. He was disliked by both his parents. Whenever Ares appeared in a myth, he was depicted as a violent personality, who faced humiliation through his defeats more than once. In the Iliad, it is mentioned that Zeus hated him more than anyone else; Ares was also on the losing side of the Trojan War, favouring the Trojans. He was the lover of his sister, Aphrodite, who was married to Hephaestus. When the latter found out about the affair, he devised a plan and managed to humiliate both of them. The union of Ares and Aphrodite resulted in the birth of eight children, including Eros, god of love.
There were few temples attributed to Ares in Ancient Greece. Sacrifices would usually be made to him when an army would march to war; Spartans would make sacrifices to Enyalius, another lesser god and son of Ares and Enyo. However, the name was also used as a byname for AresWhen Ares went to war, he was followed by his companions, Deimos (terror) and Phobos (fear), who were the product of his union with AphroditeEris, goddess of discord and sister of Deimos and Phobos, often accompanied them in war.
Aris Is also called Mars, Ares. CLICK the blue words for links!

Extra Sport Time

In schools, children are not getting even sport time or getting none. Because there are normally in class learning which is still good. But so e teachers/schools have no gear for sports if we dont give gear or give more sport time it will lead to obesity.

Personally I think schools need at least 10 minutes of sports time besides lunch times to reduce obesity a little bit and when they get sport they use energy and they are more focused on work because they used the energy that they'd use for other stuff in class (not work). And so they live longer life. And as proof go in a class room and  you will see kids barely moving.

Please give more time dedicated to P.E to stop obesity because 27% of NZ adult are obese. LET STOP OBESITY!

Recount of swimming
On Tuesday of the 7th/5/16 we went by bus we drove with room 18. We went at 11 am and on the bus I sat next to Ivan we chatted all the way there. When we got there me and Ivan got of the bus and hi fived the bus driver. When we got there we ate until our turn which takes 30min me Ivan and sam joked around then people got out and we hopped in it took me a little longer because I couldn't find my goggles and I hadn’t had the same problem Ivan couldn’t find his but in the pool I found it but Ivan had not so he was goggleless. When we got in we went in our groups sam & josh were splashing each other like crazy fish. Then our teacher said “4 laps of streamline” josh groaned but that didn't stop me ,I went last but I zoomed ahead of josh like a rocket going to the moon! After a little bit we had to do 12 lengths josh said “*groan* this is stupidly stupid” we had to do 4 freestyle, 4 backstroke and 4 breastroke. When we finished we hopped out and sam got sick so he didn’t do all the lengths and nether did josh because he was to slow/tried I think. And the boys rushed to the bathroom to get changed because if all the boys get finished we get to go on the bus first and we won!

I am Improving

I am improving at History like Greek history what are you?

Whareoa Farm

Whareoa Farm Recount

On the 17th, room 18 and 6 drove down by bus to Whareoa Farm for our science topic (water.) I sat next to Ivan we chatted all the way there. When we got there we got in groups I was with Ivan,Jackson,Josh, Stase,Nathan and Luc (go check there blog for there side of the story below). Our group was B we had to see how healthy the catchment is. we had half a container and a bug chart.

We got instructions to catch bugs in the catchment and on the chart it tells how certain bugs are good and whats bad for the catchment using numbers 4 is the best and 1 is the worst. Me and Ivan only caught Mayflies which was a 4 because its the only thing we caught! They look like mini beetles mixed with a fly. Then we changed subject and walked up a hill and learnt about camp Mackay. Camp Mackay had over 4,650 NZ people! It is more than 82 years and a half years old and nearly 5,000 US Marines. After the we ate and played around, then we switched to Orienteering. We  had to find  numbers on peaces of wood sticking out of the ground and they had to find numbers and on every number there was a letter so its harder to cheat by guessing. I was with Ivan Jackson a and Luc we found the first 3 easy (easy enough anyway) then it got harder and harder. At  one stage we couldn't find any but it we finished really fast well that's what it felt like it anyway. Then we explored the forestry area.

We followed the path but then we got told to walk in through the catchment then we got out and learnt about fungi. Then we saw a dead cat some people got scared for life. Then we went back to the bus.

Today I learnt Greek god edition #7

Khione is the Greek goddess of snow, daughter of Boreas, god of the North Wind and Winter, and sister of Zethes and Calais(tell me in comments below who there are) . She is depicted as a goddess in the series, although in some myths she is visualized as a snow nymph.

Today I learnt Greek god edition #6

Hestia was the last to be yielded up, making her both the oldest and the youngest daughter. As the goddess of the hearth she personified the fire burning in the hearth of every home in Greece.

Today I learnt Greek god edition #5

Apollo was the son of Zues and Leto, twin brother of Artimis He was the god of music, and he is often depicted playing a golden lyre. He was also known as the Archer, far shooting with a silver bow; the god of healing, giving the science of medicine to man; the god of light; and the god of truth. One of Apollo most important daily tasks was to harness his four-horse chariot, in order to move the Sun across the sky

What I'm improving at history

The ghost of genuis

(The present) John Ward Langan he lived in America and was ans esters from Christopher Lagan he was 16 at collage he wore a leather jacket, businessy shoes and blondish hair. He didn't care much about his grades and the only thing he cared about was a necklace which had a purple jewel in the middle and him self and always got 100% correct one every test.

When he got asked a question like "94637 x 13264?" without thinking he would answer with a firm voice "1255265168". After school he didn't study for his finals which was tomorrow all he did was polish his necklace then stomping into his room it was his fat dreaded mum shouted "DO YOUR HOMEWORK" he replied "No" she got a slapper and slapped him hard and took away his necklace... On finals he walked to school without his necklace a collage girl asked him "hey smarty what's 4724362 x 51731934?" his jaw dropped "uhhhh" okay what "1x1?" "uh" she walked away with a grin she always studied and dreamed to became the smartest student and this was her day. He felt weak he walked home with water dripping down like a rainstorm off this face and opened the door dropped his report on the kitchen table.

Later that day cops bashed down the door going after John's mum he opened his door and found cops saying "where is your Mum?" "why?" "shes been bad" as they were looking around they found the necklace a cop took it for fake "evidence" (he was just stealing it with a excuse.) One the way home the guy holding the necklace and dropped it and the jewel and a ghost came out is was so white it looked like bone. It was the ghost of Christopher lagan the smartest person in the world thats why he had amazing grades.

Today I learnt about Greek god #4

Today I learnt about Hera (Roman name: Juno), wife of Zeus and queen of the ancient Greek gods, represented the ideal woman and was goddess of marriage and the family. However, she was perhaps most famous for her jealous and vengeful nature, principally aimed against the lovers of her husband and their illegitimate off sprin.

Today I learnt about Greek gods #3

Today I learnt In Greek mythology, Hades the god of the underworld, was a son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. He had three sisters, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera, as well as two brothers, Zeus, the youngest of the three, and Poseidon.
